The preservation of expression, in a political and social era that pushes uniformity, is important.
The Farwest could implement this in two ways : The Call for Collegiate Talent for Regional Events and The Collegiates in Action Forum.
THE CALL FOR COLLEGIATE TALENT FOR REGIONAL EVENTS
The Call for Collegiate Talent for Regional Events would allow collegiate sorors the opportunity to have their art and talent showcased at each day of the Regional Conference and Founders Day Luncheons. This call would honor of the establishment of the National Arts & Letters Commission and appreciate the artistic talent of collegiate sorors, in time where Black artistic talent is being exploited and ignored.
THE COLLEGIATES IN ACTION FORUM
The Collegiates In Action Forum would demonstrate our commitment to Social Action and Political Education within the Farwest Region. Within the past two years, our collegiate sorors have had to face political challenges head on through campus demonstrations and protests, which are caused by legislation , international relations, and their campus administrations. Collegiate sorors would have the ability to talk about and educate sorors of our Region on the demonstrations/issues on their campuses.
MY POINT OF VIEW
As a part of our commitment to social action, we need to acknowledge the ongoing events and demonstrations on our campuses as it is something that is unifying us all as collegiate sorors. This would allow us to talk about the variety of policies put in place on campuses and how that affects the overall campus morale. The Collegiates In Action Forum would remain nonpartisan, in alignment with our Sorority, but allows us as a region to see how we could fight against these injustices.
The Call for Collegiate Talent for Regional Events exemplifies that there are multiple ways to serve. This initiative would also serve as encouragement for sorors who are interested in pursuing Art as a passion and as a career, allow collegiates to play a bigger role in regional events.
The regional acknowledgement of these issues that collegiates face and the further incorporation of collegiates would bring us closer to being One Delta.
