Hello, Sorors! My name is Kayla Williams and I am a Fall 2025 initiate of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Pi Chapter. Aside from my candidacy for the 2026-2028 Farwest Regional Representative position, here are four things you need to know about me:
1.
I am a Farwest Leg4cy. My mother was initiated at the Omicron Chi Chapter, Stanford University. I am also a Quad Club legacy. My father is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. It is through their guidance and Christian principles that I am the woman I am today.

2.
I am an avid writer, which I have exemplified through my work with the award winning and world renowned UCLA Daily Bruin. The Daily Bruin consists of over 600 UCLA students and is one of the largest newspapers in Los Angeles. I am the Daily Bruin's current Outreach Director. I joined the Daily Bruin in my freshman year as a volunteer and by my sophomore year, I became paid staff.
As the first Black Outreach Director, I have led the Outreach section and cultivated our external relationships with the Daily Bruin Alumni Network (which has over 1,000 UCLA Alums) and the UCLA, Los Angeles and global communities. Additionally, I helped raise $34k in donations for the Daily Bruin Scholarship Endowment Fund this year.
As a Senior Staff member, my experiences range from writing articles to designing the newspaper layout. I have had the opportunity to cover student organizations and events such as campus demonstrations.
3.
I am a big proponent of the Arts. I have been artistically gifted from a young age and have always had a deep appreciation of the Arts. Over the years, in addition to basic sketching, I learned how to paint and sculpt. A fun fact about me is that when I was in the eighth grade, I designed and painted a mural at my middle school, which stands to this day. In addition to my love for the visual arts, I am a poet. In fact, the poem that inspired my affinity for poetry was "Ego Trippin" by Soror Nikki Giovanni. Ultimately, my artistic abilities have allowed me to be creative and disciplined in every endeavor.

4.
After graduating UCLA, I plan to obtain a Masters in Communications at Stanford University, combining my passion for both politics and media. Ultimately, my dream job is to be a White House Press Secretary or the Head of Press Relations for a candidate with high morals and ideals.

I have been surrounded by the Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated my entire life and in my endeavor to become the 2026-2028 Farwest Regional Representative, I hope to get to know more about YOU, my Fabulous and Fierce Farwest Sorors!
